General questions
Our programmes are designed for people who manage other people, from first-time team leads to directors running departments of fifty. The new manager foundations course suits anyone with less than eighteen months of management experience. The conflict and strategy workshops are aimed at managers who have been in the role for two years or more and want to sharpen specific skills. We do not run open enrolment courses; every workshop is booked by an organisation for its own managers.
We cap groups at twelve. The minimum is six. Smaller groups get more individual coaching time; larger groups generate more diverse perspectives during discussion. If you have more than twelve managers to train, we run parallel cohorts on back-to-back days using the same facilitator so the experience is consistent.
Yes. One-day programmes (new manager foundations and leading through conflict) work well online via Zoom. We use breakout rooms for paired exercises and screen-share for role-play review. The three-day strategy workshop is a different story. Much of its value comes from informal conversations over meals and during breaks, so we strongly recommend running it in person. If travel is genuinely impossible, we can adapt it to three separate online days spaced a week apart, but we will be honest: it is not quite the same experience.
We start at 09:00 with a brief check-in where each participant shares one thing they want to get better at by the end of the day. The morning session usually covers a framework or model, followed immediately by a practical exercise. There is a 15-minute break mid-morning. After lunch (one hour, provided by the venue or your office), we move into role-plays using real situations participants submitted during the diagnostic phase. We record these with permission and play back short clips for group feedback. The afternoon break comes around 15:00, and the final session from 15:15 to 16:45 focuses on building personal action plans. We wrap up at 17:00.
If you cancel more than 14 days before the workshop date, you receive a full refund. Cancellations within 14 days are charged at 50% of the agreed fee because we will have already completed the diagnostic and programme design work. If we need to cancel (for example, because fewer than six people have confirmed), you can choose a new date or get a full refund. We have only had to cancel twice in seven years, both times due to severe weather disrupting travel.
We charge a flat day rate per workshop rather than per head. The rate depends on the programme and the degree of customisation. A one-day workshop typically falls between £2,400 and £3,200. The three-day strategy residential is priced separately and includes the follow-up coaching call. After our discovery call, we send a detailed quote within three working days. There are no extra charges for the pre-workshop diagnostic or post-workshop report.
About 40% of each workshop is customised based on your diagnostic results and the specific challenges your managers face. We have delivered programmes for NHS trusts, financial services firms, technology companies, local councils, and manufacturing businesses. The management skills we teach (feedback, delegation, conflict resolution, strategic thinking) apply across sectors, but the examples, language, and role-play scenarios are always drawn from your own context. During the discovery call, we ask detailed questions about your industry so we can prepare relevant material.
Our lead facilitator, who designed the programme, spent twelve years in operational management roles before moving into training. She holds a postgraduate diploma in coaching and mentoring from the University of Edinburgh and is a chartered member of the CIPD. Our associate facilitators all have at least five years of management experience in addition to coaching qualifications. We do not use facilitators who have only trained; everyone has managed real teams and dealt with the same challenges participants bring to the room.
Six weeks after the workshop, participants join a 45-minute group coaching call. We review their action plans, discuss what they tried and what worked, and troubleshoot any problems. Participants also retake the confidence diagnostic so we can measure change. You (as the booking organisation) receive a summary report with aggregated pre- and post-scores, anonymised themes from the coaching call, and our recommendations for further development. If you want ongoing support beyond the follow-up call, we offer individual coaching packages billed monthly.
Yes. Each participant leaves with a printed workbook containing the frameworks covered during the workshop, their completed exercises, and their personal action plan. We also send a digital version by email within 48 hours. The workbook is designed to be a reference tool, not a textbook. It includes checklists for common management situations (preparing for a difficult conversation, running a productive one-to-one, setting quarterly goals with a direct report) that participants can use immediately.
About our approach
We started running management training workshops in 2018 after years of watching good people get promoted into management roles with no preparation. The pattern was always the same: a strong individual contributor becomes a manager, tries to do everything themselves, burns out or loses their best team members, and then either gets sent on a generic two-hour webinar or is left to figure things out alone.
Our workshops exist to fill that gap. They are not motivational talks. Nobody leaves feeling inspired but unsure what to do on Monday morning. The focus is on practice: you try things, get feedback, adjust, and try again. The facilitator's job is to create a space where it is safe to be bad at something so you can get better at it before the stakes are real.
We have trained over 600 managers across more than 80 workshops since we started. The organisations we work with range from ten-person startups to NHS trusts with thousands of staff. What they have in common is a belief that management is a skill, not a personality trait, and that skills can be taught.
